Moonlight Shadow turns 3 years old today! :D

Moonlight Shadow was born from the ashes of a guild called Conquerors of Shambala, a casual guild that had soap-opera quality drama baggage attached to it. After a nasty split and disbanding, the guild as we know it today was born, and we have been growing in numbers, levels, friendship, power and skill as each month passes.

As we are beginning to form as a steady 10-man raiding guild over the next few weeks, and an exciting new expansion on the horizon, we have a lot to look forward to and be thankful for.  :D

Thanks to all the guild members, from level 1 to level 80,  newcomers to Warcraft and those who have been playing since Vanilla, from all around the country and even the world. Here’s to an awesome 3 years, and many more awesome years to come!

And as a special treat, here is the video that started it all many years ago:

And a video that celebrates everything we love about WoW:

Reminders

- Joining the forum will become a mandatory part of raiding with the guild. Please sign up on the forum, the link is on the right-hand side of this post.

- Once signed up, please make a post about what days and times you are available and unavailable to raid. The quicker members do this, the faster we can make raid groups.

- Check your calendars! New schedules will be posted every Tuesday once we know what the weekly raid quest is. Do not get yourself saved to 10-mans at the beginning of the week unless you know you will not be online for the remainder of the week. Remember: If you get yourself saved to 10 Ulduar/Naxx/EoE etc. if we say not to, it may mean you might not be invited to 10 ICC once we enter because it proves you can’t follow directions!

- The guild’s birthday is tomorrow (2/16).  The guild tabard will be changed back to it’s original design to celebrate.

- Congrats on the first guild kill of Ignis in Ulduar. I will be adding the picture eventually, but will wait until I get the downed section redesigned.

Big Raid Changes Incoming.

Moonlight Shadow is about to change the way it handles raids.

While we will still not be a hardcore raiding guild, we are about to get more serious about the entire raiding experience. We will be forming our first “Core Raiding Team”.

During the week of 2/2/2010 till 2/16/2010, we will be holding a trial for those interested in becoming a member of the Team. During the week, we will schedule various events on the calendar around the same time every day. Players who show up on time, prepared, and with their game faces on will become members of the Team. We will be starting with a 10 man team, and if we end up with less then 10 members, we will recruit new members specifically to fill those raiding roles. While the trial will last two whole weeks, our actual raiding nights will probably end up being 3 to 4 nights a week.

What does this mean for members who want to raid but are unable to make the Team due to job/school restraints? You probably won’t see very many changes then you do now. We will still help you to physically and mentally prepare yourselves for raids, by gearing up and offering advice. We will still run heroics and help guildies on alts or with any raids we are not saved to. If a member of our Team is unable to make it for any particular night, we will select prepared and geared (appropriately geared for whichever raid we select) members to take their place. Of course, if you are not interested in raiding at all, we will still always remain a haven for casual players, those leveling up, or PvP’ers who just want a fun atmosphere to have fun, do heroics, BG’s/Arenas and dailies. :D

If the Team is successful, we may even make a second group!

So if you think you have what it takes, go over the checklist below and sign up to begin the Team trial starting on the raid reset week of 2/2/2010 till 2/16/2010 !

* - Consistancy. Have an 95% or better attendance rate. Make sure you are on at least a half hour before the raid starts, and set aside at least 2-3 hours of major interruptions. Emergencies can happen and we make exceptions for those. If you are going to miss a raid due to a non-emergency (ie: Party, sudden homework overload, going to a movie, scheduled doctor appointment, etc.), you MUST use either the Forum or the Contact page to get a hold of a raid officer to let them know in advance you are not coming. If you miss more then three raids due to non-emergencies without contacting an officer, you will be removed from the Team group. There is no excuse when you can get a hold of at least 2 of us at all times through Forum, E-Mail, In-Game and AIM.

* - Preparedness. Make sure that before showing up, that you are fully repaired (and have money for more!), have at least 5000 stacks of ammo, any regents you may need for buffs and spells, a full soul shard bag, any flasks or buff foods, fish feasts (if you can make them), food and water, pet food, etc. Leatherworkers should bring drums, Engineers should bring repair bots, and any other raid-helpful profession items should be brought.
(Note for ALL members: For Naxxramas & Ulduar, flying mounts are a requirement. No flying mount, no raid. They are cheap and there are no excuses for not being able to afford one. Get off your butt and do the Argent Tournament daily quests for 3 days.)

* - Knowledge. Know your class and your spec. We don’t expect you to memorize spreadsheets about your class, but know it well enough to do your job in the raid efficiently. Also, read up on the fights. I know that a lot of people (including myself) learn better by doing, but at least go to WoW-Wiki or WoW Head and read up so you can get a quick rundown on how not to stand in fire. We will go over basic strategy on the first or second time running a raid, but we don’t want to spend a lot of time on it. So the more you know, the quicker everything will be.
